Two new members of staff have been welcomed through the doors at a Shropshire legal firm, while two others were celebrating after taking their next step up the career ladder.

Chris Hewitt and Joanne Thomas have joined Lanyon Bowdler as assistant solicitors at the firm’s Shrewsbury office.

Chris has moved to the county after specialising in dispute resolution in the West Midlands and boasts considerable experience in dealing with alternative forms of litigation funding.

The 30 year-old said: “I am already enjoying bringing my knowledge in civil litigation and matters to support clients of Lanyon Bowdler.

“Litigation funding, especially conditional fee agreements and ‘after the event insurance coverage’, is a complex area but an area in which I have dealt with numerous cases with great success.”

Also joining the Shrewsbury office is Joanne Thomas who has lived in Shropshire all of her life and brings 10 years experience within property law to the residential property team.

Joanne, 30, is a founder member and the current chair of Shrewsbury Young Professionals Group - a networking group for professionals in and around Shrewsbury. The group has been running for more than six years and has more than 150 members.

“I love Shropshire and the amazing communities within - I can’t imagine working or living anywhere else.

“To get the chance to join Lanyon Bowdler’s Shrewsbury office was fantastic - especially after making so many connections through the Shrewsbury Young Professionals Group which I am looking forward to building on through my work at Lanyon Bowdler,” she said.

Meanwhile it has been time for celebrations for Caroline Yorke and Jenny Gibson who have both been appointed associate solicitors at the firm.

Caroline is based within the family department at the Oswestry office, whilst Jenny is a member of the employment team in Telford.

Peter Flint, senior partner, said: “We’d like to welcome Chris and Joanne to our expanding business - they both bring valuable experience to the firm.

“Our congratulations also go to Caroline and Jenny with their elevations to associate status, they prove hard work, dedication to clients and enthusiasm for their work pays off.”
