Sheffield is hoping to be selected for a range of honours, including hosting matches, providing the training base for a country, or hosting a team to stay in the city for the duration of the tournament.

Sheffield’s 2018 bid is a unified city bid supported by both Sheffield football clubs, Sheffield City Council, Creativsheffield and a number of other city Stakeholders. The individuals behind the bid team are all hoping to achieve glory for Sheffield and bring World Cup Games to the city.

Hosting such a prestigious world tournament in Sheffield would bring immense benefits to the city; increasing the city’s profile internationally, accelerating investment and creating a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience for the citizens of Sheffield.  Not to mention the considerable direct economic impact through visitor spending whilst the event is taking place.

Sheffield’s 2018 World Cup bid already has the clear backing of a number of Sheffield ambassadors including MP Nick Clegg and football legends Gordon Banks, Howard Wilkinson and Brian Deane, but now, most importantly Sheffield needs the wider support of its business community, their employees, clients, suppliers, families and friends.

Let's make sure that Sheffield is centre stage. Spread the word, Back the Bid and help bring the FIFA World Cup to Sheffield:
