Good health vs weight loss part 1

As a personal trainer one of the commonest things I get asked is how to lose weight. I always say to such people that there is no safe legal method of rapid weight loss. The other thing is that you should NEVER aim to lose weight. You should aim for better health. They are not necessarily the same thing. Some of you reading this will have to gain a bit of weight for optimum health.

I am now going to do a series of articles about bettter health. Gaining better health is a long term process. Its not a quick one. It takes time. However the benefits are enormous. If you do these things gradually you will find that the effects last for longer.

One of the first things- which is often overlooked- is to drink more water. If you are dehydrated every body system works less efficiently.

What I would like everyone who reads this article to do is to drink one glass of water before and after each meal and take a sip of water every couple of minutes. Ideally you should have around 3 litres of water per day- in imperial terms that is six pints!

Over a period of time you will find that you have considerably more energy, you will sleep better, you will eat better, you will be more efficient in everything you do. You will also look much healthier and you will have a very positive glow to yourself. Some of my female clients have found that they look that bit younger!

This is just the start of your programme for better health. Drinking lots more water is safe, relatively cheap but is surprisingly effective. As time goes on I will put up more and more of these articles.

Anyway thats all for now. Keep reading and let get drinking (water that is!)
