The Cinematic Experience!

People in and around Rochdale agree that the cinema is a popular night out. None of these Rochdale civillians however, stopped to wonder why?

Homemakers in Rochdale agreed that at home they could never sit through a movie or show without getting up at least once to do something, therby often missing important bits of whatever was on and so they went to the cinema so they could sit through it in peace. The younger generation in Rochdale seem to agree that the effects and visuals become not so impressive on a smaller screen and the cinema allows for a more exciting experience. These explanations do pass for reasonable.

BUT

Other views are a lot less 'object/situation' blaming. It has been argued that our lives have become so depressing to live or some situations so stressful to bare that we now run from our problems. The Cinema is a popular thing that we agree is a 'treat' after a long day or a long week. This treat allows us to escape from our world for awhile and focus on watching other peoples problems. It is not your home and it is dark and quiet, therefore nothing around you would trigger you to start worrying and the dark and quite keeps your eyes and mind on the screen and nothing else.

Often families go out together to the cinema or you go with a group of friends or on a date, whoever your chosen companions are, you don't have to look at them or make conversation as you might have to in other situations, freeing you to just forget about everything. The after effects last some time as well; after the film is over that is still the only thing on your mind and it is what you talk about.

In Rochdale and the rest of Manchester, Cinemas are increasing and almost every town has its own. Unconciously stressful students, workers and parents turn to the cinema for solace as an alcoholic turns to wine because sometimes TV and beer isn't good enough.
