We have all seen the press recently about the rise of measles in this country. Did you know that the symptoms of measles usually arrive around 10 days after you have been infected, some signs to look for are ~ runny nose, ~ watery eyes, ~ mild temperature, ~ tiny spots in the mouth and throat, ~ aches and pains, ~ a red spotty rash, this usually starts behind ears then spreads to head and neck then the rest of the body. If you suspect measles you should contact a doctor as soon as possible to get a proper diagnosis. There is no treatment once you have the disease, you can only manage the symptoms until you are over the disease. Get advice from a doctor, pharmacist about what to do. There can be complications from having measles, the best way to avoid problems is to be immunized so go and see your GP for advice, Don't give this disease the chance to take hold, Get the MMR.
