Getting to Littleborough to watch the Tour de France

The race is coming to Rochdale on Sunday 6th July, there is a spectacular caravan of cars and floats which will pass by a couple of hours before the bike race, Approximately, 10.30 -11.30 with the bike race expected around 1-1.30 pm

The roads leading up to the viewing point at the edge of Blackstone edge Reservoir will be closed except for permit holders, you can apply for a permit at

traffic@rochdale.gov.uk  by placing ‘Tour Parking Permit’ in the subject box.

( this is a first come first served basis with priority given to Blue Badge holders)

Rochdale Council are advising people to park in Rochdale Town Centre, which is free on Saturdays and Sundays and to then catch a bus up to Littleborough where the race and caravan will be passing through.

The buses from Rochdale take just under 20 minutes normally but may take a bit longer if the traffic is backed up, the bus start at 07.50 from the bus station in Rochdale and are then at 8.20, 8.50 , 9.20, 10.20, 10.40, 10.50, 11.20, 11.40, 11.50 then 12.20

You will need to be on one of these buses if you want to get to the race on time. Futher details can be found at http://www.traveline-northwest.co.uk/journeyplanner/enterJourneyPlan.do?hss=y2eBE275725340 there will be temporary no parking zones put up before the race and it will be illegal to park there, Cones will be out in place for this.

Hollingworth Lake car Park will be open but you will need to get there early to get yourself a spot.

If you are on your own bike the best place to park is probably Kingsway Business Park and cycle along the canal, It’s about 5 miles.

The parking in Littleborough is limited at any time so try to avoid going there to find a spot.

And finally I would put some comfy shoes on so you can climb the hill up to watch the race, oh and set off in plenty of time, it’s a big hill!

If you want to watch the race on the big screen it is in Harehill Park In Littleborough. There are loads of race events going on all over town on and around the day.
