Carers Week in Rochdale
29th May 2013

I have recently had to be a carer for my son who had an accident on his moped. Whilst my situation is only temporary, his bones will heal, I have been thinking about all the people who are caring for relatives and friends day in day out and how difficult it must be to get any time for themselves. The strain on living arrangements and family life must be huge, whether it's temporary or permanent. How do people cope? The 10th of June marks the start of Carers week in Rochdale with various events, activities and support sessions happening all over the Rochdale Borough. http://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/rochdale/events The Carers Resource Centre is has arranged events every day of the week from drop in sessions to a Bollywood Disco to a trip to St Annes. Having some time away from the caring role is so important to recharge batteries and getting the right help and support is crucial whether its practical or emotional. Other carers and volunteers at the carers resource centre can offer practical advice and tips on how to access the right services and to get enough support so you can be strong enough to carry on caring. They will provide a sitting service or childcare whilst you access the support. Training and education is provided from the centre if needed. Support Carers Week, You never know when you might be in a caring situation.
