Hampton village is still buzzing with talk of its first charity fun day, which saw more than 2,000 throng to the Beveree stadium on bank holiday Saturday.
Organisers say that £5,051.85 was made for the five charities supported.
The day saw a 16-team football tournament, a pet show and more than 40 stalls. “Hampton’s Got Talent” was won by local rapper Sam Badgery.
Local MP Vince Cable joined the crowds and was impressed by the sheer scale of the planning and organisation. Her Worship the Mayor of Richmond upon Thames Mrs. Clare Head also came along to open the “Hampton’s Got Talent” contest and get the day off to a flying start.
All gate proceeds and many of the proceeds from many of the attractions are divided amongst the five chosen charities, Anthony Nolan, Africa Revival, the Greenwood Centre, Linden Hall and SOS!SEN (supporting children with Special Educational Needs).
This was the first event of its kind and will no doubt be repeated next year.
