Richmond combats abuse of the elderly

The idea of preying on the elderly because they are easy targets is unthinkable to most people. But unfortunately there are some unscrupulous types who take advantage of the confusion or loneliness that sometimes accompanies old age either by extracting money or physically abusing older members of the community.

This is why Richmond Council has just held its second Elder Abuse Conference. Representatives from the council, NHS Richmond, the police, and the voluntary and private sectors all gathered in Teddington on June 18th to discuss ways of tackling the problem.
