Post Office Ltd has announced it will open a new permanent outlet in London Road Twickenham, next to the Job Centre Plus Office. This will replace the temporary unit which had been based in the Royal Mail sorting office car park.

Welcoming the decision, announced after a public consultation, Cllr Pamela Fleming, Richmond Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities Business and Culture, said: “I’m very pleased to hear the Post Office has a new permanent premises, and that it will be on one of the key routes towards Twickenham town centre and close to the train station.

“This is a vital service which business and local people rely on, and the Council has worked closely behind the scenes with Post Office Ltd to provide local knowledge and advice. Hopefully now this small period of disruption which local people have endured since the old Post Office closed will soon be over.

“Royal Mail’s decision to take over the empty shop means another unused premises in Twickenham will soon be brought back into operation. I would urge all Twickenham residents and businesses to make use of the shop once it opens on 9 September.”
