It is a truth universally acknowledged that the English love talking about the weather.

And Richmond residents had the opportunity to indulge their weather obsession as BBC weather forecaster and Richmond-lover Tomasz Schafernaker presented his one-man show, ‘Now its Over to Tomasz for the Weather’, to attentive listeners in East Sheen Library.

He told them about his experiences as a TV weatherman as well as giving them a light-hearted guide to the weather. And, let’s face it, with our weather you have to laugh or else you’d cry.

After the event, Tomasz said:  "It's absolutely wonderful to be invited to do a talk at East Sheen Library. Not only is it close to home, what's even better is that it's an area I'm familiar with, where I often go cycling."

Councillor Liz Jaeger, Cabinet Member for Youth, Culture and Leisure on Richmond Council, said: “This was a fantastic event. It’s great to have someone of Tom’s profile to come down to speak.

“We are extremely proud of our libraries and are keen for as many people as possible to take advantage of what they have on offer.”

Tomasz’s visit is just one of a number of events – including author readings and local history presentations - taking place in Richmond’s libraries in the next few months.
