The Dysart Petersham is an Arts and Crafts building dating from 1904, adjacent to and facing south over Richmond Park and has been part of Petersham since the middle of the eighteenth century.
The interior has been sympathetically restored, keeping many original features. The oak for the bar, while not original to The Dysart Petersham, had been bought in the 1850s from a decommissioned Napoleonic warship and has now been simplified and restored.
Log fires are lit in the colder months. The juxtaposition of scrubbed wooden table tops, white linen napkins, pottery commissioned from local potters and sparkling glasses creates a relaxing and special ambience.
There is a garden for outside dining, with views over Richmond Park, with tree lights lit at night.
Serves contemporary British food, with a wealth of influences gained by head chef Kenneth Culhane while honing his skills working in some of the most famous kitchens and fine dining restaurants in the world.
Culhane is one of fewer than 30 chefs worldwide eligible to use the designation ‘Roux Scholar’ and has a keen interest in, and understanding of, the value of sourcing high quality ingredients from known suppliers, including wild produce foraged in the vicinity, drawing from the richness and rhythm of the seasons.
Balance and restraint are key – whether in the cooking itself or in the support for traditional husbandry and ethical sourcing from animals and plants alike.
There are regular wine dinners, with the producer attending, where Kenneth creates a special tasting menu to accompany wines that he and Barny have selected.
Drawing on his own musical background, Taylor has developed a loyal following for the classical music recitals, held on the first Sunday evening of each month, featuring outstanding young international talent.
In the evenings, Thursday to Saturday, there is live ‘understated’ background music in the restaurant (on the grand piano, classical guitar or lute).
Functions and Private Dining
The Dysart Petersham is one of Richmond's most distinctive private function venues. The first floor private dining and meeting rooms have a south-facing balcony overlooking the park. The function rooms are very versatile and can cater from 6-40 seated or up to 80 guests for a drinks reception.

In addition there is a part of the ground floor restaurant that seats up to 14 and offers an element of seclusion.
