Bonfire Night Sausage and Bean Bake

Sausage and Bean bake is a great hit with the kids just layer some grilled sausages in an ovenproof dish with Branston Baked Beans, diced red pepper and onions then top with mashed potatoes and grated cheese. Bake in a moderate oven until the topping is golden and crispy.

Serves 4

What you need

  • 8 pork or beef sausages, grilled
  • 1 can Branston Baked Beans
  • 1 red pepper, diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 400g mashed potato, homemade or shop bought
  • 30g grated cheddar cheese
  • ovenproof dish

How to make it

  1. Preheat the oven at 190ºC/ 375ºF/Gas 5.
  2. Place the grilled sausages into an oven proof dish.
  3. In a bowl mix together the Branston Baked Beans, diced peppers and onions then pour the mixture over the sausages.
  4. Top with a layer of mashed potato and sprinkle over the grated cheese.
  5. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes or until the topping is crisp and golden.

Hints and tips

  • For a tasty change replace the sausages with meat balls.
  • Mashed parsnip makes a great alternative to potatoes.
