Big Year for Astwood Bank Cricket Club 

The cricket season is upon us and this season promises to be one of the biggest yet for Astwood Bank Cricket Club.

Our club is in a fantastic position; we can boast five senior Saturday teams, two Sunday teams, a ladies team, two girls teams and seven boys age group teams. Each team is bursting with players that have come through our own junior system. This makes us not only one of the largest clubs in the midlands but also extremely proud. It’s fair to say our small village in Redditch on the border of Worcestershire and Warwickshire punches well above its weight. 

Almost every weekday evening and weekend throughout the summer you will find a game of cricket to enjoy and a cool drink to be had.

Off the pitch  

This year also sees Astwood Bank Cricket Club going though a big transformation. We have attained planning permission for a much needed clubhouse extension and refurbishment. The building work is expected to begin after the season in the winter completing the work in time for the start of next season. 

Our vision for the club has always been to ensure the facilities off the pitch mirror the progress made on the pitch and a fit for purpose clubhouse is the key to our continued success.  

The plans for the clubhouse include modern changing room facilities for the men and the women, a permanent storage garage for the equipment, a kitchen for food preparation but most importantly a multiuse social area with a bar.  

The social area will also become a village hall to be used by everyone with lots of exciting events planned from; Darts to  Zumba, private parties to comedy nights.

As you can imagine the project is going to be expensive, but it is worth it. 

Although grant funding is available for some of the building work we still need to find a lot more money for the plan to be a success. This is where we need you.....
