Below is a recipe for "Easy Treacle Sponge". The Kids will love it.
250g of Golden Syrup1 Lemon zest plus juice from half the lemon5tbs of Breadcrumbs200g Butter (softened)200g Golden Caster Sugar3 Eggs200g Self raising flour5tbs Milk
Preheat oven 180C - 350F or Gas mark 4.
First mix the Golden Syrup, lemon zest, juice and breadcrumbs together and spread over the base of 1&1/2 " deep, Litre baking tray
Next, beat the butter, Sugar until pale and fluffy, then beat in the eggs, one by one.
Stir in the Flower and Milk and spread evenly over the syrup mixtureBake for around 40mins until golden and risen."
