We chose this hotel due to the close proximity to the guild hall. When we arrived the staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was very basic. My only issue from our short stay was (First world Problem): the electrical sockets were placed in such a way that we could not plug in any of our phones etc to charge up unless we unplugged the one placed for the kettle. This also meant that we couldn't even use the in room ironing equipment at the same time as my wife wanted to straighten her hair. Room was very quiet on the 7th floor, even with the windows open. I think next time we will choose another hotel for a longer stay and due to the distance from the train station.

Firstly, great location and comfy beds and the air con is a massive plus given the heat in the room even in November.
The downside was the car parking, only 32 spaces available and nearly all taken when checking in at 2pm. The room, although comfortable was small for a holiday inn and had not been cleaned adequately enough. There was still beard stubble in the sink.
Also, being an ihg member, I requested a room away from the lift and non allergy pillows, neither of which were supplied. I appreciate that these are only requests but when placed 3 weeks in advance, I can't understand why we did not get these and have not come across this in any other holiday inn.
All in all, I would return but suggest there may be better value out there in the same price bracket considering you may also have to pay for parking if you don't get there early enough.

I would like to thank Abul Ahmed on reception for his kind and efficient and helpful assistance regarding arranging tickets online to go up Blackpool Tower - a process which can be somewhat bureaucratic

Booked into this hotel late on a Sunday night and receptionist was more interested in his phone call than providing a good customer experience. Room allocated was very tired, with chipped furniture and dowdy paintwork. slow service in restaurant on an evening. On the positive side, breakfast was good and free wifi. Majority of staff were friendly and willing to help.

Our family stopped by this hotel while passing through Preston on June 12, 2017. While there, we encountered a situation that had to be dealt with in July. We contacted management and they immediately took care of our problem. Although we did not end up staying here (we decided to travel further toward our final destination), the response and help we received from management leads me to believe they run a very customer friendly hotel.

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here just for a night and we loved it. Not too far away from the centre and there was a few shops/takeaways near by. Very big and comfy bed in our hotel room and the window took up the whole of one wall which we liked. The room was clean and well decorated and had air condition which we made good use of. I like the fact that you have a choice of hard or firm pillows and the hotel can also offer hypoallergenic pillows or a variety of complimentary toiletries if you had forgotten something. We had a brilliant stay and very much enjoyed the breakfast and a leisurely morning as checkout was until 12pm (later than a lot of hotels)

I stayed one night whilst in Preston, great customer service experience from reception and bar service.

Breakfast was of a decent standard and well presented buffet. Bedroom was clean and well maintained. I would stay here again, however, the only negative is the inadequate sized car park. When I arrived at 7pm all spaces were taken and double parking/blocking in had started. The receptionist offered a solution to park on the office block’s car park next door but with the condition I was gone by 7am this didn’t work for me. I parked on a public car park above the bus station which was fine but a tad inconvenient. The hotel should describe the parking limitations more openly, however that is my only criticism.

For my review bias, for the last 15 years I have stayed approximately 70-100 nights a year in the Intercontinental / Holiday Inn Group chain.

Date of stay 22nd November 2017

My ongoing experience of the hotel is as follows:

1) Arrival was slightly tricky using the Sat Nav (TOM TOM) instructions for the last 500m as the Hotel is on a one way system
2) The onsite carpark is very small, possibly 20 something spaces, with parking on a 1st come 1st served basis.
3) On arrival at the hotel the check in clerk was pleasant and friendly. As a SPIRE rewards club member, I received access to the free WIFI and choice of a rewards voucher or alternatively if you wish you may choose the option of a free drink at the bar instead.
4) All area’s including the bedrooms were always well kept, tidy and clean. My praise goes to housekeeping team for the cleanliness of the rooms and in general in the hotel, although the rooms do need an upgrade.
5) On this visit I stayed in rooms 705 which was clean and well maintained, and in keeping with the IHG brand standards.
6) The room itself was tired looking and in need of a makeover
7) The shower was abysmal, no pressure at all
8) The onsite mini gym electronic equipment was mostly broken but for £2 per day use of a local gym could be used around the corner.
9) Breakfast is an additional cost (cheaper if booked in advance or breakfast voucher purchased at check in).
10) I did not use the evening meal service on this occasion.
11) Location, is an odd one, on a one way road, next to the main bus station

Check out, was straight forward and hassle free

In summary, the hotel scores 6/10 for a tired looking Holiday Inn branded hotel lacking in facilities and pricey considering its location.

Very disappointed with the parking, we had valuable tools in our cars and had to park in the overflow car park, then we were informed we had to leave the hotel by 8.00am so the company that owned the car park could park up.
The hotel is in need of upgrading, the bar area was fine, the food was OK, had a good night sleep bed was comfortable.
