What to Expect
The celebration features a lively mix of performances and cultural workshops programmed by the Confucius Institute at the University of Lancashire.
Visitors can enjoy:
Lion dance and traditional Chinese dance performances
A Chinese Gongfu demonstration by a national champion
A mesmerising face and mask changing act
There will also be four parallel craft workshops to explore:
Woodblock Printing
Suitable for all ages. Learn traditional Chinese New Year printmaking and take your artwork home.
Embroidery (13+)
Discover traditional embroidery techniques, with demonstrations and displays from heritage masters, supported by English translations.
Face Mask Painting
A fun, family-friendly activity where you can design and paint your own mask to take home.
Chinese Lantern Making
Create your own lantern in this hands-on workshop perfect for families and children.
Guests are welcome to move between sessions and experience multiple activities throughout the afternoon.
