If you are looking for a great day out in Preston, The Harris is definitely worth a visit. Located in the heart of Preston city centre, The Harris combines a museum, art gallery and library all under one historic roof, making it one of Lancashire’s most loved cultural attractions.

The museum recently reopened following a huge restoration project and now offers a modern, family-friendly space filled with exhibitions, interactive displays, artwork, local history and regular community events. Entry is completely free, making it ideal for families, couples, students or anyone wanting something different to do in Preston.

There are plenty of exciting exhibitions and activities taking place throughout 2026, including:

  • The Harris Open 2026, celebrating local artists and creativity
  • The World of Martin Brown: Horrible Histories and Other Dazzling Drawings

  • Thursday: 9am – 9pm
