With festival season officially under way, a care home in Dorset is welcoming their local community for a fun-filled afternoon of food and celebration. Care UK’s Ferndown Manor will open their doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection. On Saturday 8th August from 2pm–4pm, visitors to Ferndown Manor can look forward to an afternoon bursting with flavour, featuring much-loved recipes and traditions from the residents and team members. The delicious dishes on offer will be complemented by live entertainment from Hannah Bushnell as guests can expect to show off their best moves dancing the afternoon away. Resident Yvonne Abreu said: “I am really looking forward to the food event. I have travelled to many places across the world and sampled traditional foods during my travels. We have many cultures at Ferndown Manor, and it will be lovely to sample the different foods and flavours!” The events are part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see Care UK homes across the country host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like. Each festival will offer sustainable, community-focused activities while championing the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
