Volunteers will be bracing the winter weather to help out with landscape maintenance at Old Oswestry hillfort in a new initiative.

The town is aiming to encircle the 3,000-year-old Iron Age monument with a 1 km long chain of people and string of hearts with messages of appreciation for the hillfort from all parts of the community.

It is worth repeating an article we first published March 2016 that highlighted the cash benefit to company car drivers and their employers, of reimbursing the cost of fuel provided for private motoring. The rates have been updated for 2016-17.

This week sees the eagerly-anticipated release of the programme for the 15th anniversary edition of Borderlines Film Festival, which will take place from Friday 24 February to Sunday 12 March across Herefordshire, Shropshire, into Powys and, for the first time, eastwards as far as Malvern.

Salary sacrifice is a term applied to benefits taken in place of salary. In many respects these benefits provide employees with higher “take home” value than if the benefits were treated the same as cash income.
