Making Tax Digital with Morris Cook Chartered Accountants, Oswestry

The current tax year, 2017-18, is the last year we have to prepare for the advent of the new reporting system, Making Tax Digital for Business (MTDfB). Following the recent budget, it is now clear which businesses are going to be affected and when.

Legacy to rebuild lost Shropshire canal bridge after 50 years

Local canal campaigners are celebrating a £70,000 award from The Inland Waterways Association to help rebuild Schoolhouse Bridge between Crickheath and Llanymynech. This is a major boost to restoring a two-mile length of the canal through to Llanymynech, and ultimately reconnecting Welshpool to the national canal network after more than 50 years.

Personal tax and National Insurance changes for 2017-18 -

The personal tax allowance will increase to £11,500 and the higher rate threshold will rise to £45,000.
The annual ISA limit will increase to £20,000.

Oswestry Equestrian Centre become a British Riding Club Centre.

Exciting news! Oswestry Equestrian Centre have become a British Riding Club Centre. So they are now forming a new riding club for the Oswestry area, based at OEC. The aim is to run friendly, fun competitions and training and social events. This will be open to all; livery clients, riding school clients and local riders.

Oswestry BID Launch (Business Improvement District)

The launch of Oswestry BID (Business Improvement District) takes place on March 15th and all locally-based businesses, in or around the town centre or industrial estate, are invited.
