Hurlston Hall is, for me, the best local fitness centre around. They have month on month contracts so you can cancel your membership if you need to at short notice without any penalties or having to keep paying for a yearly contract if you find you aren't using it (happened to me in the past at Bannatynes in Skelmersdale which was very annoying) The equipment is kept up to date and the atmosphere is very relaxed- it is the only gym I have been to where, as a woman, I feel totally comfortable in the free weights area There is a ladies only gym as well if you don't want to use the integrated gym. The classes are great- varied and catering to all levels of fitness. The staff are extremely helpful- they are all amazing- Jason, Joy, Alex, Josh, Jodie, Aiden, Craig, Emma, Jay and the manager Ian are all on hand to help or simply to pass a friendly word. The beauty spa is relaxing and affordable luxury. Changing rooms are large and cater to families, the updated showers are superb. Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and pool are always popular and childrens access to the pool area and the leisure centre are at set times so it is very easy to have a quieter swim if you prefer. Personal training rates are reasonable- but there is never any pressure to take this up and there is always someone in the gym area to advise for free and the staff are always happy to do this. I can't rate this gym highly enough- I have been going there now regularly for about 4 years and always receive a warm welcome. If you take the Premier membership you get free drinks and passes to the gym- very worthwhile if you like to have a 'posh' coffee before or after working out. Wish I could give this gym more than 5 stars- they deserve it!

We always get a very warm welcome & all the staff are pleasant & helpful. The food, especially at lunchtime, is extremely good value & we have never had a bad meal there. Overall, it's just a nice place to go & it is nearly always busy which means I am not the only one who thinks so!
