Very interesting article in today's Sunday Times (main section, page 15) entitled: Minister to scrap hotel star ratings. The government's tourism strategy is due to be published next month, and it includes plans for the official star-rating system for hotels to be phased out in favour of consumer-led reviews on the internet.
Looks like "thebestof" concept of the power of testimonials is finding its way into government policy, and about time too!
