Visitors to Ormskirk can save even more cash in the run up to Christmas thanks to West Lancashire Borough Council. Shoppers will have extra cheer thanks to parking deals and extra markets during December.

The historic town will be bustling until Christmas with the regular markets on Thursday and Saturday. But it will also be hosting extras on Wednesday 14, Monday 19 and Wednesday December 21, with plenty of opportunities to grab some festive treats for family and friends.

And from Monday December 12 shoppers will also get an extra saving when they use our car parks. Visitors who buy a pay and display ticket will receive one hour's parking free of charge on top of the parking period they pay for.

This special offer applies to all pay and display car parks except Two Saints Retail Park, where an hour’s free parking applies all year round.

Councillor Martin Forshaw, portfolio holder for Planning and Technical Services, said:

"Christmas is a special time in Ormskirk, and the extra markets and parking offers are a great way to attract people into the town to do their festive shopping. I hope everyone will take advantage."

Motorists should note that the extra free hour will not be shown on the pay and display parking ticket purchased from the machine. So, for example, if you buy a ticket at 10am for one hour's parking the ticket will show an expiry time of 11am. But, during the special offer period, you will be able to park until noon.

Notices explaining the offer will be on display at the car parks and all car park attendants will allow for the extra hour.
