Loshn - Yiddish for language - are a Klezmer ensemble exploring the traditional music of Ashkenazi Jewish culture. Anna Lowenstein (fiddle) & John McNaughton (clarinet) are joined by Susi Evans (accordion) to form a trio of intimate, chamber music style Klezmer. Their interpretation and new arrangement of old repertoire sees their music speak, sing and dance with the tradition's distinct Yiddish accent and vocabulary. An evening with Loshn is both educational and entertaining - informing and engaging with questions of multiculturalism and history within a British identity as they take the audience on a journey to the roots of their tradition, Loshn's warm and engaging stage presence welcomes audience participation including dancing and singing that offer different access points to the music and tradition beyond the concert setting, establishing a nuanced dialogue with the audience.
