About Us
Nottingham and rugby go back a long way. Nottingham was the first official club formed in 1877 by Alick Birkin at the age of sixteen on his return to Nottingham from Rugby School.

For most of the last century the club played at their ground in Beeston but this was sold in 2006 and their base is now in Ladybay with First XV matches being played at the Notts County ground on Meadow Lane.

As one of the leading clubs in the country, Nottingham Rugby’s First XV play in National League Division One and the club’s goal is for sustainability in this division and promotion to Premiership rugby in three to five years.

Professional and amateur rugby has been split into two separate bodies to provide financial security to the amateur game. Shares are being sold to raise finances for the professional game and are available now.

The Teams
Nottingham fields sixteen sides including the First XV, Corsairs, Ladies and the Academy and junior teams. The Academy was formed in 1998 to support talented young players in the U19 and U17 game; many have progressed to play in the senior side and at all levels through divisional, national and international levels.

The Colts were formed in 2006 to make a bridge between adult and junior rugby and as a feed to the Academy and professional squads. Colts U19 and U17 teams are competing in the National League Division league and cup competitions. Nottingham Juniors cater for 12 to 16 year old players and the Minis for 8 to 12 year olds.

Our inclusive policy welcomes junior players of all abilities

Community
The local community is very important to Nottingham Rugby. The Nottingham Rugby Community Team aims to enhance the lives of young people through sport inspiring them to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. The team forges partnerships with local education authorities, primary care trusts, schools, charities, local businesses, and sports clubs. They also run half term and summer rugby camps which are designed to work with different age groups and levels of experience within sport.
