Visit Monmouth Castle and the regimental museum before it takes a rest. Open until end October.

Originally founded in 1068 the castle was the birthplace of King Henry V in 1387.It is one of the few British castles still in possession of the military.Part of it houses a museum dedicated to the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (Militia), while the King's Garden is planted with herbs, as it would have been in Henry V's time. Opening hours: From 2pm to 5pm daily - from 1st April to 31st October including over Easter if it is early) Admission is free.
