Stands on the site of what was the Bell Inn, which can be traced back as far at 1794. During the 18th century, touring companies would perform in the assembly room of the inn. The venue was re-launched in 1850 by J.F. Rogers as 'The Theatre Royal'. The Savoy building of today was opened on March 5th 1928 and contains all the lavish decorative characteristics of a fine city theatre.
