Armed with paintbrushes and gardening spades, more than 30 staff from the UK headquarters of Tickets.com - a leading provider of ticketing solutions to arts, entertainment and sports venues worldwide - spent the day working on various parts of the school. Staff were divided into teams and given responsibility for different areas of the grounds, from revamping the little girls room to creating inspiring outside spaces.

Speaking at the charity day, Elaine Hawkins, deputy headteacher at Southwood Junior School, said: "When we were originally approached by Tickets.com who came up with the idea, we were thrilled to form a part of their charitable commitments. Today has been a great success and the enthusiasm and hard work ethic from Tickets.com staff has meant that parts of the school look almost unrecognisable from this morning! We can't wait to see the smiles on the faces of the children when they return next week."

In order to maintain the company's longstanding reputation for high levels of customer service, Tickets.com set up a remote support centre in the school's ICT suite where its dedicated support team worked in shifts to ensure staff were always on-hand to respond to customer queries.

The decision to choose Southwood Junior School as the location for the charity day was first proposed by Natalie Jones, internal sales manager at Tickets.com. Natalie has been volunteering at the school for a numbers of years and was delighted to see her colleagues get behind the cause: "The school relies heavily on fundraising to improve its facilities for the children and so, knowing the school as I do, it was an easy decision for us to get involved. It's fantastic that Tickets.com is supporting the local community, combining charitable work and a lot of hard work with a day of fun for everyone."

Following the day's planned activities, the staff at the school kindly donated the use of their facilities for Ticket.com's staff summer party, which included a BBQ and a variety of summer sports games.

The charity day was supported by TheBestOf Milton Keynes, the local marketing company who showcases the best recommended local businesses in the area. As part of the companyâs provision, TheBestOf helps such organisations reach other like-minded local businesses and the local public using online and offline marketing tools. Speaking at the event, Olly Urquhart, owner of TheBestOf Milton Keynes, said: "The work that we all have accomplished is a fantastic achievement and at TheBestOf Milton Keynes, we were more than happy to show our support for this great cause and get stuck in to help. Itâs a fantastic example of how much a positive difference local businesses can make to the local community."
