Dreamboats and Miniskirts

Following the successful run of Dreamboats and Petticoats at Milton Keynes Theatre last year they have another hit on their hands in 2014 with Dreamboats and Miniskirts.

The original characters from Dreamboats and Petticoats Bobby, Laura, Norman, Sue, Ray and Donna have moved on to 1962 in Bill Kenwrights enjoyable sequel Dreamboats Miniskirts. All songs and there are 40 in total are sung and played live, by a cast who clearly enjoy their roles. As is the case in similar musical productions the story is just a vehicle to link the songs together, however there are a number of funny lines included by the award winning writers Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, some more risqué than others.

The upbeat numbers really get the audience clapping their hands and tapping their feet, these include Twist and Shout by a group called the Liverpool foursome, who closely resemble another well-known band of the time. Other well-known numbers include Do You Love Me, House of the Rising Sun, Louie Louie and Hippy Hippy Shake, you will know all the other songs.

The Milton Keynes Theatre itself is a joy to visit, it has plenty of Parking (free after 6pm) and it is local. There are restaurants and bars around it, however check out the Piano bar in the foyer. The resident Pianist plays background music, and there is plenty of space to enjoy a Pre-show or interval drink. Also there is a Chef’s White Label Pre-Show Dining Package Offer.

Where you can choose 2 main course dishes from their menu. Add 1 bottle of their best value wine (White, Red of Rose} All for Just £25!
