about us

A Local Charity For Local People

Established in 1992 MK SNAP (Milton Keynes Special Needs Advancement Project) offers professional support, training, education, life skills and work opportunities for individuals aged 16+ with learning difficulties

Our Mission is:

To deliver a leading programme of education, life skills, work preparation and opportunities to adults with learning difficulties, providing them with the skills they need to be the best they can be.

Walk through the doors at MK Snap and you will feel the energy, creativity and pride that is lighting up the lives of adults with learning difficulties and disabilities.

Our experienced and intuitive staff see the uniqueness and talents of each learner and build on these qualities to personalise a learning programme to inspire ambition, determination and independence.

At MK Snap we:

  • Provide complete support and personalised learning plans for every learner
  • Provide a fun and motivating, yet safe and caring, environment
  • Empower our learners to live independently when appropriate
  • Create fulfilling workplace and volunteering opportunities

Education & Work Training

With an extensive range of subjects on our curriculum there is something for everyone at MK Snap.

If you have a desire to improve your life skills and your work skills, or maybe you would like to take up some activities that make you feel good about yourself, then come along and see what’s on offer at MK Snap. You might be surprised!

You can choose from art, cookery, photography, media, vehicle maintenance, environmental studies, gardening, music, performing arts, money management, yoga, sport, drama and street dance

Work Training is provided to us by local companies. It allows our learners to understand the importance of getting things right in a real work place setting – and the work you produce will end up being sold to customers from all over the world.

Corporate outsourcing to MK Snap helps us to develop and maintain our work skills programmes for learners and generates income which is vital to the charity.

The work that comes to us from companies across Milton Keynes enables MK Snap to deliver significant multiple benefits to every one of our learners and of course to the companies, who know that the quality of the work will be excellent.

MK Snap Cafe

The MK Snap Cafe opens its doors every Thursday from 10.00-12.30 to everyone in the local community. You can enjoy homemade cakes and a hot drink in our naturally lit atrium area, whilst being waited on by our learners.

The learners are involved in all aspects of the shop giving them the opportunity to develop their customer service skills and also make the cakes themselves within a working kitchen environment.
