Get involved, get SET for life! MK Dons SET Are A Milton Keynes Based Charity Focusing On 7 Main Areas, Giving The Local Community Members The Opportunities To Participate In Often Life Changing Programmes And Allows The Charity To Engage A Diverse Range Of People

The 7 main areas of focus are.....

Inclusion.

The aim of the Inclusion department is to make football and sport accessible for all. The main areas of focus for the Inclusion team are those with Disabilities, Black and Minority Ethnic Group and People At Risk. 

  • There are 17 MK Dons FC Disability teams playing in regional and national competions. Football sessions are curently offered across a variety of disabilities. For more info please see the MK Dons SET website.
  • A number of Black and Minority Ethnic communities in Milton Keynes work with MK Dons SET. Delivery of planned footbll coaching programmes, mentoring of new coaches, coach educations and the development and management of small and 11 a side teams competing at local and regional levels are some of the projects undertaken with these groups.
  • 'People At Risk' include homeless, refugees, asylum seekers, travellers, young offenders, NEETs (Not in Education, Employment or Training), 16 to 19 years, mental health service users no longer attending a centre, over 55's, ex-offenders, communities in areas of deprivation and a number of other groups. The purpose of their work in these areas is to create opportunities for these poeple to be included within mainstream activities that most of us take for granted. 

Education.
 
The Education department deliver a variety of vocational programmes for young people aged 16-23 offering the opportunity to gain qualifications and experience. These courses are fun and interactive designed to improve participation in education and sport,
  • The National Citizen Service (NCS) Programme gives 16/17 year olds the opportunity to travel on an outbound residential finding out about the community and planning and delivering a social action project. It's a chance to meet new people and develop interpersonal skills.
  • SET offer a range of Adult and Family Learning packages that see cross generational learning with ages ranging from 3-83. 
  • Delivering Schools Provision has enabled SET to extend services throughout the region to engage children and young adults in sport and promote an active lifestyle.

Health & Wellbeing
 
The Health & Wellbeing department play a vital role in ensuring a healthy and active lifestyle is adopted by the residents of MK.
  • The Motiv8 family weight management programme is delivered to children and young people aged between 5 and 16 years, over the course of 10 weeks. Nutritional and Physical Activity sessions are provided.
  • The Extra Time programme is proven to improve balance in just 8 weeks. If you are over 60 and want to improve your balance this course is for you.
  • The ‘Get Onside 4 a Healthy Heart’ aims to get the healthy heart message across to more than 300 primary school students in Milton Keynes.
  • Food 4 Life is a new project for any family living in Milton Keynes who would like to learn more about living a healthier lifestyle.

Girls and Women.
 
MK Dons SET aim to provide sporting opportunities for female’s in and around the local area.
  • MK Dons FC Girls Centre of Excellence continue to promote and develop opportunities for gifted and talented female footballers within Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas.
  • The Skills Centre sessions will consist of skills, technical practices, games and matches in a fun and safe environment.
  • Holiday camps are designed to suit all players abilities and like many of our opportunities can be tailored to suit your players/needs.

Community & Delivery.

The Community Sports and Events Department enables the fully FA accredited coaches at MK Dons SET the opportunity to work with children and young people throughout the region to improve their sporting, social and other skills.

  • The Evening & Weekend courses provided by SET Our evening centres help children to gain skills, knowledge and an understanding of football. See the events listing for future courses.
  • Holiday courses include 'Mini Kickers' for children between the ages of 4-6 yrs, 'Pro Camp' where attendees will have the chance to experience training like a professional and 'Female Only' where developing female player’s technical and tactical skills, whilst improving their knowledge of the game.
  • SET Cycle Club engages all members of the community through a range of cycling activities and fundraising that continually supports the SET charity.

Parenting.

'Get SET Get Parenting' supports parents and carers with children aged 5 and over and provides FREE help to families in Milton Keynes by giving parents the skills needed to keep children safe, healthy and happy. Whether it be helping with confidence, skills or knowledge to build a strong family life.

Footballing Development.

  • The Advanced Centre offers players of high ability the opportunity to experience high quality coaching within an environement that challenges and motivates players to enhance their development.
  • SET offer top quality coaching from experienced FA qualified coaches to teams on both a short or long term basis.
