Public access to Cheddar Reservoir
16th December 2016

Whilst access to the permissive footpath around the reservoir will be available for most of the Festive period, Bristol Water is to remove access on Christmas Day.

For all those seeking to walk off their Christmas lunch, or simply looking to blow some of the cobwebs away, this means you will need to seek out an alternative location for your stroll that day.  Of course, living in and around the Mendip Hills, we are spoilt for choice when seeking alternatives, so why not try out somewhere new?  A walk up through Cheddar Gorge will give the hardier among us the chance to burn off some of the extra calories this Festive season is likely to see us consume.  Or perhaps a walk down the Strawberry Line will be the order of the day.  Being relatively flat, this should offer a less challenging option for those simply seeking to while away an hour or so on a gentle stroll.  The Strawberry Line will also be a great place for the kids to try out their new bikes!

“Normal service” will then be resumed on the 26th December, as Bristol Water have advised that access to the footpath will once more become available.  For the remainder of your Christmas break, you’ll then once again be able to take in the spectacular views of the hills and see the array of birds who make the reservoir their home.
