We popped in for lunch whilst out on a walk and enjoyed a lovely Brie, bacon and cranberry baguette. Good portions and well priced. Despite arriving right at the end of a lunchtime service we were still made to feel very welcome and staff were polite and accommodating. Lovely outdoor seating area undercover, perfect if your out exploring around Foxton as we were. Dogs welcome here too.

We had a pint each and the pie of the day meal. Pie was well worth it . Would had preferred fresh vegetables not frozen peas as they only option. Over all we where both very full .
Price was very reasonable

Took the opportunity to leave the car and walk along footpath to see the locks .
Would I come back. yes . It's a nice setting and I bet in the summer its gorgeous.

Called in for food - despite being close to the end of afternoon food service we received a warm welcome. The food was very good - tender chicken goujons and a crispy batter with very tasty real chips, and a proper cheese ploughmans. Drinks were good too and all at a reasonable price. We were indoors but, on a warmer day would have used the large outside beer garden - covered and uncovered. We'll be back.

Nice little pub with covered and uncovered area outside so you can eat with a decent food menu. Plenty of beers on tap and bar snacks. Only downside does get busy and Car park a bit small but it is a village pub so can't complain really

I came to the Black Horse on a Friday lunchtime with my parents, who are both in their 80s. The food was simple but good quality & tasty, and the staff were friendly, patient and accommodating. There’s step free access to the dining areas and toilets.

Met with some friends I had not seen since before the pandemic. The pub is in a lovely setting and the staff were friendly, but my meal was poor. I ordered pie and mash (at £14.45). The mash was tasteless and lumpy and the pie crust was rock-hard: peas and gravy were OK. I mentioned this to the young man who collected our plates and he said he'd tell 'chef'. There was no feedback on the mash and pie crust, nor apparently was the manager told as there was no offer of discount - I didn't make a fuss as I didn't want to spoil what was a special occasion. But I probably won't be eating there again.

Called in for luch yesterday with our daughter, WOW!!! Ploughmans was great, baguette melt & homemade chips delicious & homemade lamb & mint pie was filled to the brim, even managed the homemade tiramasu 😋😋 staff were lovely & couldnt do enough for us.
If u want a delicious meal this is the place to go, we enjoyed every morsel & will be going again & again..thanks everyone at the Black Horse for making our lunch a great one 👍

Lovely pub nice selection of home cooked foods, opted for sourdough sandwiches cheese and pickle spot on with rustic chips, shout out to Rosie who served out table . Beautiful area, short walk around the canal , bustling with friendly people and plenty of place's to stop and eat.

Food was OK, typical pub food, the staff appeared to be stressed and it showed, it was fairly busy when we were there, The seats under the canopy outside is a nice area with wonderful views, nice garden too.

I met a friend here for lunch and, with neither of us being from the area, didn’t know what to expect. The pub is in a beautiful setting and we chose to sit on the shaded terrace overlooking the garden. The staff made us very welcome and we had a fantastic lunch. Next time, we will try the tea room too!
