All round a really lovely place with impressive views . Only moan I have is that I ordered pate, and having asked if it was smooth and being told it was it came as coarse. I didnt even start it . Waitress came over and asked and I explained why . She said she would speak to the chef but never came back . I did expect a refund or credit to me honest . Otherwise definitely worth a visit, you wont be disappointed.

Family and a dog looking for a pub for dinner and found this through Google. Dinner was home cooked pub classics in generous portions, puddings were incredible and the service and decor on point. Next time we’ll be back to experience the beautiful garden. Highly recommend.

My wife and I do not usually bother with completing feedback or reviews of products or places but as regulars now to the Black Horse for occasional lunches - about 15 miles from our home - it is so good as a village pub and in our experience just as a pub should be. The beer is just perfect but it is complimented by the most generous cheese and onion baguette which they so obligingly make on request. Its no small trip but so worth it and served with a very warm smile. We have eaten full meals there too which again in our experience are faultless. The perfect pub!!

This is a fabulous lovely village pub. The food is absolutely divine. I suggest you book if it's a weekend. The garden is well kept and great outdoor undercover seating.

We popped in on the off chance as our usual eatery was fully booked. We're so glad we did. Quite possibly the best Sunday lunch I have experienced. Very friendly and efficient staff, and they made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended for a more homely and friendly atmosphere.

We had an excellent lunch yesterday with family and friends to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary.
We had a good range of nicely cooked food, good portions, great desserts and good prices.The staff were friendly.
The conservatory where we ate was light and airy.There’s also a great garden overlooking the village.
Highly recommended.

Luckily will stopped at Foxton after coming throught the locks, and moored up directly below the Black Horse... Even luckier it was the Wednesday/Thursday "Pie & Grill" nights, whereby as family of four enjoyed 2 steaks, half chicken and chips + chicken goijons, started with a camembert sharing starter, washed down with a couple of fine ales, sat in the conservatory area, very pleasant and friendly staff, really enjoyed the evening, would definitely recommend and will certainly call again if passing 😎

The food is well cooked, hearty portions and good value for money.
18oz mixed grill has been great both visits and the minted lamb pie packed with meat and plenty of mash and gravy.
The bar lady made sure we we're warm enough tonight and put the thermostat nearer to us so the radiator came on.
Very dog friendly in the bar area so we will return with our own dogs to eat.
Overall, our first visit was great, our second visit was great and I feel we may well be spending a lot more time in this lovely little pub.
I'm definitely going to be trying out there tea room next door as I'm sure it'll be just as lovely home cooked produce ☺️

So I've just hady second visit to the black horse as I was very happy with the food and service the first time and tonight didn't disappoint. Thursday's is pie & grill night. The first time we both had a mixed grill, plentiful portion size, proper home cut and cooked chip's and a lovely warm welcome from the staff and locals. Two weeks later, tonight, we had another mixed grill and then a minted lamb pie & mash. Mixed grill was again great. The pie had lovely homemade pastry, full of big chunks of meat and plenty of mash and gravy. It's very dog friendly in the bar area and we have had a snuggle both visits which were more than happy with and will return with our own dogs in the near future. In a nutshell, it's great value, good home cooked hearty dinners that we all want after a busy day at work served with staff that actually want you there which makes it very welcoming.

Really delicious food and well priced - beautiful location with a large outdoor space. The indoors is well laid out and decorated with a comfortable conservatory to see outside. Would highly recommend if you're in the area
