Working with the We Love MCR Charity, The Authentic Food Company – which supplies ready meals to supermarket and restaurant chains in the UK and Europe – has donated 200 food hampers filled with delicious treats, ready to be presented to a number of Manchester-based community groups.

The hampers are being delivered to destinations all around the city on Tuesday 9 May and Wednesday 10 May by Keepmoat Construction, who pledged to support the initiative by making the deliveries free of charge.

Lord Mayor of Manchester Councillor Carl Austin-Behan, said: I would like to thank both The Authentic Food Company and Keepmoat Construction for their generosity and continued support for We Love MCR. Initiatives like this show what the charity is all about -we’re a Manchester charity working to improve the lives of Manchester people.

I’d urge people to do what they can by donating their time or money to help this worthy cause. Remember, every penny raised stays here in Manchester, helping to bring positive benefits to communities throughout the city.

The hearty hampers donated by The Authentic Food Company include a range of world cuisines developed by their in-house specialist chefs. The meals will be served-up to a number of community groups, refuges, hostels and drop-in centres across the city.

Nik Basran, Managing Director of The Authentic Food Company, said: As a leading Manchester business with international roots we pride ourselves on the work we do in the community. We have a long history of supporting local and national charities and so we were keen to do everything we could for the We Love MCR Charity, a truly worthy cause.

Keepmoat Construction who specialise in community regeneration projects were quick to offer their support in distributing the hampers to communities around Manchester.

Frank Mondino, North West Area Director for Keepmoat Regeneration, part of the ENGIE group, said: We are honoured to have been asked to support this cause for the fifth year since its inception. Keepmoat Regeneration shares a similar vision to We Love MCR Charity - helping to enrich the lives of local people and bring communities together, which this initiative is making great strides to achieve. Our Assistant Site Manager, Mark Mosoph has been instrumental in delivering the hampers to various postcodes in Manchester City and I would like to thank him for his invaluable support.

We Love MCR offers support to local charities, community groups and organisations who are based or operate within the City of Manchester. Since 2011 the charity has supported more than 140 community groups and projects in Manchester.

The charity also provides support to families to experience a short break together either locally in the UK or at the One Education Centre in Windermere. More than 300 adults and almost 600 children have benefited from the programme since 2011.
