With festival season officially under way, a care home in Sale is welcoming the community for a fun-filled day of food and celebration.

On Friday 7th August from 11am-3pm, Care UK’s Oakfield Croft will open its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.

Visitors to the Oakfield home will be taken on a once-in-a-lifetime tour of flavours from around the world. Dishes include Pad Thai to represent Thailand, tomato and goat's cheese bruschetta from Italy and chicken souvlaki on pitta bread with onions and tzatziki from Greece. These will be paired with beers from the corresponding countries, along with a selection of ice cream.

Guests will receive a warm welcome from Customer Relations Manager, Jenny Walker and Lifestyle Lead, Beth Ellerton, along with a mocktail upon arrival. This will be followed by a talk and cooking demonstration from one of the home’s chefs, focusing on hydration and nutrition.

Ahead of the event, residents will be getting together to create and decorate signs made from recycled materials.

The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see all Care UK homes host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients
