Did you know that Manchester University has one of the biggest amounts of students in Europe!!!

If you're feeling a little daunted by Freshers week, we have found some top tips and reminders to help you enjoy the week and settle in:

  • Remember to bring 2 forms of photographic identification e.g. passport, driving license with you.
  • Register on to your course and get your keys to your room - don't forget your course acceptance letter!!!
  • Register with a doctor and dentist, get a spare key cut for your room, insure your belongings (unless covered by your home insurance policy);
  • Start to make friends as soon as you can, approach people and take part in social events.  If you're in student halls leave your door open to encourage people to pop in and say hi!
  • If you're moving into a flat or house, make friends with your flat mates and suggest going out for a drink or a meal to get to know each other.
  • Add personal touches to your room to make you feel relaxed and at home;
  • Make sure you take all the basic cooking equipment;
  • Attend all of the meeting arranged by your course tutors or department;
  • Get a map of the campus so you don't get lost - especially after a few social drinks!!!
  • Budget carefully - when you get your loan cheque, divide it up and try to stick to it;
  • Go along to the Fresher's fair and see what clubs, societies and activities you could join;
  • Buy tickets in advance for nights out
  • Stay safe - Stay in a group, book at taxi in advance and do not walk alone at night.

Freshers' Week is such an exciting introduction to University life where you will make new friends and have an amazing time!

Last tip - Enjoy every minute!
