Well here we are...Its Mens Invitation Day at Evesham Golf Club. 70 odd hopefuls plotting their way around the course in a Better Ball Medal Competition. The course is playing short but no doubt the Chairman of Green will be making sure there are few tricky pin positions, with the 6th green being one of the favourites to make the unwary putter scratch his head as the putt rolls off the green. Best to be below the hole here which does make things slightly easier.
The course is playing short in this dry weather and the "big hitters" out on the course today will surely have an eye for reaching the green in two on the par 5's. Always a chance of a birdie today and maybe even an eagle.
The course is looking at its best and with views to Bredon Hill and the Malverns and the 5th and 14th holes running alongside the River Avon there are lots of opportunities to watch the wild life down by the river.
Once you have signed your card there is also the fabulous "Evesham Buffet". Recognised as one of the friendliest clubs Evesham Golf Club also puts on a buffet beyond all expectations.
The patio mob (or should they be called the "If Onlies") will be trying to explain why the drive went in the river or that simple putt went two feet by. The mutterings on the patio can be heard far and wide wherever you play and are as much a part of the game as being out on the course.
Me I'm off now to clean my shoes, dig out the shorts and the sun cream and hit a few practice drives before my tee time.
Have a great day everybody and if you are looking for membership or a round off golf with a few friends in the Evesham area you won't find a much better place than at Evesham Golf Club.
Dedicated to building TBO Malvern but I still like to find time to play golf, usually on a Friday afternoon.Decorating and gardening is best left to the lovely Mrs Cook!
