Barbeque safety.

Well, Its definitely barbeque weather…it seems that the summer is here to stay, and with it lots of lazy summer evenings cooking outside. It’s the perfectly peachy, beautifully simple way to rustle up a tasty dinner or two. So dust off your barbecue…or if like mine leave it burning for some length of time to clean the grill bit, then sit back and enjoy the sizzling aroma of outside cooking. Do of course follow a few basic safety precautions along the way…

  • Ensure the barbecue is on a flat site, away from your shed, trees and beautiful summer shrubs.
  • Keep children, chickens, garden games and any other pets well away from the barbeque.
  • Never leave the barbecue unattended (always put a bloke in charge) and make sure to keep a bucket of water or sand nearby for emergencies.

Take time to enjoy your cooking experience; don’t rush about and bung a load of food on the coals before they are hot enough to cook! Get them nicely glowing, sip a beer, watch a little longer, sip another beer, and when the coals are a nice powdery grey you can unleash your expert cooking techniques.

If you are a keen barbeque fanatic don the whole Caribbean shirt, bright shorts and turn it into a bit of an alfresco party…well why not, it is summer time after all!

I live at the edge of a pretty little town at the foot of the Malvern Hills, where days are long and always sunny, my house tidy, cupboards full, and the washing pile non existent...hmm maybe not.
