With festival season officially under way, a care home in Maidstone is welcoming the community for a fun-filled day of food and celebration.

On Thursday 6th August from 2.30pm-4.30pm, Care UK’s Invicta Court in Maidstone will open its doors to families and neighbours for a series of food festivals, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.

At Invicta Court, residents' favourite recipes will take centre stage across six to eight tasting stations, on custom stalls built by the maintenance team and painted by residents, all using locally sourced ingredients. Residents and the local community can come together to enjoy a range of cuisines, all to the sound of a live performance from Anna MacDonald.

The events are part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see all Care UK homes host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.

Sara Barbosa, Home Manager at Invicta Court, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the local community to our very own food festival!

“We are part of a strong community here in Maidstone, and days like this are a wonderful way of bringing people together to celebrate our shared love of food, while giving residents the opportunity to share their favourite recipes and traditions with younger generations.

“The day not only promises a lot of laughter, but it is also an excellent way for residents to meet and mingle with lots of new faces – and some familiar ones. We can’t wait to welcome everyone through the doors.”
