Saturday 5th February 2011 Kick off 3pm - Macclesfield v Redruth
This weekend, Macclesfield welcome Redruth to Priory Park in National League One. This is the first of a number of rearranged fixtures for the Blues after last year’s cold snap.
Confidence is high at Macclesfield at the moment the team is performing beyond all expectations and after Saturdays impressive 37-21 victory over Coventry the Blues will want to continue their winning ways against Redruth.
With the team sat fourth in the league and amongst the highest point scorers in National One Macc will firmly believe they have what it takes to see off a struggling Redruth side. The visitors sit 2nd from bottom in the league, having played 17 matches, winning just five, losing 11, and drawing one they are 8 points away from safety and relegation is a real threat.
They suffered a heavy 30-5 defeat at Barking last time out and will be looking of a change in fortunes against Macc. Key to their plans will be kicker Aaron Penberthy who is in the top five kickers in the league and he will be at the centre of the away sides game plan.
Macclesfield will have a number of injury concerns ahead of the game, scrum half Charlie Mulchrone was forced to leave the field against Coventry with an arm injury and both Evan Stewart and Matt Owen suffered twisted ankles. Director Geoff Wappet will be hopeful all recover in time for kick off.
The Blues will be looking to secure a second straight home victory and pile further misery on Redruth.
