Held on the last Sunday of the month, Macclesfield's Treacle Market is not just any market.

A growing abundance of quality stalls offering local home grown or crafted food and drink, a selection of vintage, antiques, books and crafts and a real community atmosphere combine to make a visit to the market a social event rather than just a shopping trip. This autumn sees more and more stallholders coming on board, extending the market onto Mill Street, Castle Street and Chestergate.

Live musicians raise the spirits throughout the day, there's generally activities for the children to participate in and the opening of the Grosvenor Centre car park on Treacle Sundays now means you can stock up on goodies and never have to carry them too far.

St Michaels Church hold a family service at 11.00am on Treacle Sundays and also serve tea, coffee and cakes between 1.00pm and 3.00pm during which time there are also childrens activities inside the Church.

Future dates for the Macclesfield Treacle Market are November 27th 2011 for the 'early' Christmas Market, and on the 18th December the Christmas Market 'proper' takes place. Watch this space for full details, or visit the website.
