Macclesfield Town Football Club – Important Jubilee Update
2nd April 2012

With a fight for league survival on their hands, Macclesfield Town Football Club has decided to drop one of its two planned outdoor events as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The club had hoped to produce two events over the June Bank Holiday weekend, ‘Proms on the Pitch’ and ‘Party on the Pitch’. But following the departure of Gary Simpson, the hiring of new manager Brian Horton and the need to look for new players, the club has re-allocated the funds initially ear-marked for ‘Party on the Pitch’ to help aid its fight for survival in League Division Two.

Despite having to make this tough financial decision, club chairman Mike Rance has reiterated his continuing support of the remaining event, ‘Proms on the Pitch’:

“We’re committed to hosting a great family day out over the Jubilee weekend. ‘Proms on the Pitch’ will be a fantastic occasion for everyone to enjoy. Moss Rose is right at the heart of the Macclesfield community and we look forward to welcoming people onto the pitch for what promises to be a unique and memorable occasion.”

Organiser Brad Snelling says: “Dropping ‘Party on the Pitch’ wasn’t an easy decision for the club to make, but football is their core business and staying in the league must be their primary goal. With the support of people in Macclesfield we can make ‘Proms on the Pitch’ a great success and hopefully find some new supporters for the club too.”

In association with the Macclesfield Express newspaper, organisers are urging people to ‘Back Macc’ and get behind the club.

“If you haven’t been to a game yet, now’s your chance to support the team and help in its fight against relegation,” says Brad. “But if football isn’t your thing, why not come along to ‘Proms on the Pitch,’ and enjoy celebrating the Diamond Jubilee in style. We look forward to seeing you there.”

‘Proms on the Pitch’ takes place on Sunday 3rd June 2012. It’s the main event of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in Macclesfield and features the Proms Symphony Orchestra performing many ‘Last Night of the Proms’ classics, including Jerusalem, Rule Britannia, Land of Hope and Glory and the 1812 Overture.
