Otley v Macclesfield
This weekend Macclesfield make the short trip north to face Otley in National League One, for what is a re-arranged fixture from earlier in the season.
The two teams are yet to meet so far this season so it should make for an intriguing encounter. The Blues are in fine form having won their last two matches and scoring plenty of points. Saturday’s demolition of Wharfedale by 53-12 will certainly filled the team full of confidence and Otley will know they face a tough match.
The home side suffered a 13-3 defeat to Barking last time out and is now very much in a relegation battle. They sit second from bottom in the league table and every point from now until the end of the season is vital, having played 20 matches, winning just four and losing 16 they face a tough test to survive.
The Blues now have a thirteen point lead over fifth place Rosslyn Park, with a game in hand. It’s not unthinkable that they could catch Cambridge and take third place before the season is over.
Director of Rugby Geoff Wappet could face a selection headache after Jack Moorhouse’s excellent debut and Will Addison retuning after missing the win against ‘Dale. One player who will certainly miss out is scrum half Chris Townsend after he picked up an ankle injury.
This is a game that the Blues will certainly believe they can win and will be looking to continue their free scoring form.
