In January 2011, the 11th annual Christmas Tree Collection for East Cheshire Hospice raised over £59,400 to help meet its fundraising need of £6,000 per day for running costs.

Over 4,418 individual collections were made using 29 lorries and support from over 138 helpers each day and more than 43 tonnes of Christmas trees were recycled from towns and villages across the Macclesfield borough.

This year's target is to collect and recycle 5,000 trees in one weekend - a pretty tall order considering the vast area covered:

Adlington, Alderley Edge, Allostock, Bollington, Bosley, Chelford, Disley, Gawsworth, Great Warford, Handforth, Henbury, High Legh, Hurdsfield, Kerridge, Knutsford, Langley, Little Warford, Lower Peover, Lower Withington, Lyme Green, Macclesfield, Marthall, Marton, Mere, Mobberley, Mottram St Andrew, Nether Alderley, Ollerton, Over Alderley, Over Tabley, Peover Heath, Pickmere, Plumley, Pott Shrigley, Poynton, Prestbury, Rainow, Rushton Spencer, Siddington, Smithy Green, Styal, Sutton, Tabley, Toft, Tytherington, Whitely Green, Wilmslow, Wincle.

Postcode Areas - SK9, SK10, SK11, SK12, WA16. There is also provision to collect from Congleton and other areas.

The 2012 collection will take place on Saturday, 7th January and Sunday, 8th January. The suggested minimum donation is £4 per tree, but as every penny of your donation goes to the Hospice, please be as generous as you can.
