Preview: Saturday 22 January 2010 - Kick Off 3.pm.
MACCLESFIELD V. BARKING
You wait ages for a bus and then several come at once. It’s the same for the Blues with first a tough game at Cambridge and now on Saturday it is unbeaten Barking who make their first ever visit to Priory Park in this top of the table clash.
Barking, who of course we beat at Twickenham at the end of last season in the Championship, have since then recruited well and to date have a superb playing record of Won 14 Drawn 1 and Lost none as they move, at this half way point in the league, towards promotion to the Championship.
When we travelled to their Goresbrook home on 2 October the Blues went down 10-6 in a game that perhaps should have been won on the day but we didn’t and history will show that. However the Blues should not be overawed by their opponents this weekend and with your support behind them they can put a dent into Barking’s excellent record.
Barking seemingly have an excellent defence, just 229 points against in their fifteen games which, as a top side befits is pretty good compared with our 339. However we have scored 436 points to their 410.
Under Head Coach Alex Codling Barking have made themselves into a good, if dour, defensive side who capitalize on mistakes by their opposition hence their present top billing.
In Adam Armstrong with 137 points they have a prolific scorer but he does not seem to have played their last couple of games but winger David Vincent features in the try scorer’s table with 9 so far this campaign.
The game should be worth your effort to come along and support so let’s see a great turnout to support Cheshire’s best club side - kick off 3.pm.
