With a history stretching back to the reign of Henry VII, The Kings School in Macclesfield is one of the longest established schools and colleges in the North of England. Founded in 1502, the school has built on a tradition of innovation to develop a stunning range of academic and extra-curricular opportunities.

Having celebrated our best ever GCSE and A level results this summer, The King's School in Macclesfield has earned a reputation as one of the UK's most successful independent schools and colleges.

Founded in 1502, the school combines a long and great tradition of excellence with a forward-thinking approach to the teaching process.

The King's School in Macclesfield operates a unique diamond structure, providing an effective blend of single sex education and co-education, creating a series of small and happy communities in which every child is valued and given the opportunity to flourish in a range of innovative academic and extra-curricular activities.

We are incredibly proud of our academic results, with the vast majority of our students going on to further education. Over 90% gain places at their first choice university and typically, 10 candidates go on to study at Oxbridge.

Single Sex and Co-Educational Learning

As one of the most forward thinking schools and colleges in the UK, The King's School in Macclesfield educates children from 3 - 18, providing co-education in the infants and juniors, single sex teaching for pupuls from 11 - 16, before bringing the students back together once again for a co-educational Sixth Form before higher education.

We have found that segregated teaching during the crucial stage of adolescence enhances academic results and gives the pupils greater confidence.

However, away from lessons, students still enjoy mixed activities throughout their time at The King's School in Macclesfield.

"Everything the school has delivered so far, for my children, has been nothing short of outstanding."

Although we are one of the biggest HMC schools and colleges in the country, The King's School in Macclesfield's divisions operate as self-contained units, nurturing a friendly, small school atmosphere with an impressive array of facilities and the ability for your child to grow and develop from Nursery to Sixth Form.
