If you're one of Luton's +200,000 residents, the chances are you've seen more than your fair share of videos on social media calling it "the worst place to live", and if you're getting just as sick and tired of seeing them as local filmmaker Alan Jaksic is, then Dreaming Of A Better Luton (DOABL) is the show for you!

DOABL is an upcoming video series produced and presented by Jaksic which aims to address Luton's unflattering reputation as a "crap town" by advocating for regeneration in its town centre in order to improve its image and in turn its reputation. Jaksic will use this event to screen DOABL's first ever episode titled "A Discrete, Purpose-Built Theatre Once Again!"*, which will look specifically at the decades-long absence of such a venue in the town and present a brand-new theatre building inspired by Luton's built-up heritage as the solution to this absence. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session, so interested audience members can find out more about this dream and other dreams of a better Luton Jaksic has dreamt, and after all the work he's put into his series, whether he thinks any of it will ever come true!

* By "discrete, purpose-built theatre", Jaksic means a standalone building built for theatre, as opposed to a theatre venue attached to another building, as is the case with the much-loved Luton Library Theatre attached to the likewise much-loved Luton Central Library.
