Local Choir wins at International Music Festival

Cor Meibion Colwyn, a local Welsh Male Voice Choir has just returned from the Manx Music Festival on the Isle of Man with some silverware.

They competed against other male voice choirs on Saturday 9th April to win this prestigious award.

Cor Meibion Colwyn are a 40 strong choir male voice choir who focus on performing traditional and contemporary music.

This was the first competion they have entered for 12 years and faced stiff competition.

They outperformed the other choirs to bring home the 'Male Voice Choir Ainsworth' Cup.

They performed the competition piece, 'Follow me down to Carlow' and their own choice pieces of 'Pie Jesu, written by Aled Edwards their musical director and Speed your Journey' by Verdi.

The Choir are now due to compete in the National Eisteddfod in Wrexham where they hope to repeat their success.
